Artist Statement

Animals, forests and the search for a closer connection to nature are my main artistic themes.
My relationship with nature and forests is shaped by romanticism and personal feelings. It is a mixture of security and fear that creates a tension, making a view of a forest interesting to me as a motif for painting. I photograph this and condense it on canvas into a composed landscape in which I embed the animals.
When it comes to animals, I choose motifs that evoke strong feelings in me. The animal's facial expression, the softness of its fur, the elegance of its physique or movements, the expressive markings of an insect. I capture the essence of each animal, give it dignity, express its powerful, wild nature. For me, wildness also means that there are painful and life-threatening situations. This aspect is important to me when painting, even if it only becomes visible at second glance in the finished oil painting.
